About this Programme
- The programme will comprise a talk by Venerable, and there will also be time for questions.
- Programme synopsis. Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi leads us in a timeless exploration of the Heart Sutra, a concise, subtle and deeply profound text that is part of a collection of Mahayana scriptures known as the Prajnaparamita (Perfection of Wisdom) Sutras. Recited by millions around the world in the last 2,000 years, Venerable Tenzin pays homage to this beloved Buddhist scripture that is said to elucidate the essence of all 84,000 teachings.

About Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi
Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi is a Buddhist monk, scholar, and the president and CEO of the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States. Born in India, he entered a monastery at ten and was later ordained by the Dalai Lama. He studied Buddhist philosophy and comparative religion at institutions like Harvard University. As the first Buddhist chaplain at MIT, he has led initiatives on ethics, leadership, and the intersection of Buddhism and technology. He is also author for the book, Running Toward Mystery: The Adventure of an Unconventional Life and has worked on ethical Artificial Intelligence governance and global education programs.

- Dress Code. Please dress appropriately/modestly as a form of religious respect for the Library, which is a Buddhist centre. In particular, visitors are kindly requested not to wear short pants or skirts which end above the knees, and not to wear sleeveless clothing.
- As part of Venerable’s teaching tour to Singapore, Venerable will also be giving a talk “Living Well, Dying Well” at Poh Ming Tse Temple. This will take place on Wed 21 May 2025, 7pm-9.30pm; full details here.
