Bodhichāryavatāra: Wisdom Chapter (Part 2)- A Guide to Bodhisattva’s Way of Life
The Bodhicaryāvatāra or “The Way of the Bodhisattva”, is a famous Mahāyāna Buddhist text written c. 700 AD in Sanskrit by Sāntideva, a Buddhist monk at Nālandā Monastic University in India. This popular text has ten chapters dedicated to the development of bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment) through the practice of the six perfections. Beginning with aspirations and benefits of bodhicitta, the text proceeds step by step, explaining how bodhicitta can be developed, maintained, and increased. Building upon the foundation of the earlier chapters, the ninth chapter on Wisdom delves into the profound philosophical teaching on emptiness, and is regarded as one of the most succinct expositions of the Madhyamaka (Middle Way) view.
The Bodhicaryavatara: Wisdom Chapter is a continuous teaching from Part 1. Students who did not attend Part 1 of the Wisdom Chapter are welcome to register for this course as well.
